Never Say Never

I’ve been dropping this link all over creation today so I may as well go on and say what I have to say. Halle Berry is engaged again, this time to Olivier Martinez.

I think it is lovely that she is willing to give love another chance. What concerns me is that she stated on national television (on Oprah no less) that she would never, ever, never ever, never ever ever ever ever marry again. I thought at the time it was a rather dramatic display of her bruised feelings, and she has proven me correct.

I don’t know much about Mr. Martinez, except that he is supposedly the French version of Brad Pitt and obviously has good taste in women. For a social/status/entertainment world catch, he hit a home run. Halle is one of the most beautiful women in the entertainment world, and if he’s looking for some increased publicity opportunities with a mate, then she’s the one for him.

Excuse me for a minute while I go all astrology weird and crazy on you but she is such a Leo. Love and live for drama and wear their hearts on their sleeves. The minute they get their hearts broken, they make wild and excessive declarations of what they’ll never do or what they’ll die for or whatever to anyone who will listen. And in her case, and lucky for her ego, that’s everybody.

The thing is, we all have our relationship ups and downs. Sometimes the one you think will be with you forever turns out to be Satan’s right hand man (or woman). Other times, just when you’re ready to throw in the towel, here comes the love of a lifetime. That is, if you don’t make that person suffer for everything that happened to you before you met them. The difference between Halle and so many of the rest of us is that her love life has been cast as her co-star, but it is in the running to steal the award for best antagonist in a reality show. Everytime she gives up all the horribly ugly details of a love gone wrong she divides her fans into two camps - those that pity her and those that just want her to keep some of that to herself. I guess I fall into the latter camp…all I want her to do is shut up and be my inspiration to go to the gym or put on something besides sweatpants to run to the grocery store. Too late for that now I guess, but I wish her all the luck and love in the world anyway.
